The accent fabric: not a full saree, but a crisp, light border.
What it’s made of
Silk Organza is 100% mulberry silk in a very open plain weave with a stiff, crisp hand. It is sheer and light at 30–50 GSM, but unlike georgette it holds its shape rather than draping. It is heavier and crisper than silk gauze, which is often confused with it.
What it feels like
Stiff, papery-crisp and sheer. Organza catches light and holds it. On a border or pallu panel it creates a structured, almost translucent edge that frames the rest of the saree.
How we use it
TARINÉ does not use silk organza as the base fabric of a full saree. Because it is so stiff, it cannot be draped comfortably over a whole saree. We use it only as a border or accent panel, sewn onto the edge to add structure and luminosity.
How to care for it
- Wash: Hand wash very gently in cold water. Organza can lose some of its crispness when wet.
- Dry: Lay flat to dry. Do not hang.
- Iron: Very low heat on the reverse side only. Organza is delicate and easily distorted by heat.
The base fabric governs the care of the whole saree, not the organza border. More in Caring for silk sarees.
A note on weight
30–50 GSM. Extremely light, though the open weave makes it feel stiffer than its weight suggests.
Best for
- Used as a border or accent panel only, never as the full saree base
- Evening and festive sarees where the border detail matters
