Tussar Silk, Matka Silk, Silk Crepe, Silk Georgette and Katan Silk. Silk Organza appears in TARINÉ sarees only as a border or accent panel, with the same care.
Wash
Hand wash in cold water with a mild, pH-neutral detergent. Be gentle: no soaking, no wringing. Never use bleach.
Test the colour first
Dab a hidden corner with a damp white cloth. If colour comes off, do not wash the saree at home. Take it to a trusted dry cleaner who knows silk.
When a dry cleaner is a sensible choice
For sarees with heavy zari work, for a colour that rubs off in the test, and for stains you cannot lift gently. Otherwise a careful hand wash is fine for the silks we work with.
Dry
Lay flat on a clean towel. Reshape while damp. Silk left hanging can stretch unevenly. Keep it out of direct sunlight.
Iron
Reverse side only, on the low silk setting. Put a cotton pressing cloth between the iron and the fabric for extra caution.
Store
Fold along the natural grain and wrap in soft cotton or muslin. Plastic bags trap moisture.
